A TREES SONG

In the dirt, my roots dig deep,

Leaving secret tunnels like moles.

I sway in the breeze, my leaves like hands,

 High-fiving the sky.

Leaves rustle, branches dance,

The wind whispers secrets, birds sing free,

I’m a tree, I’m a tree, just let me be.

My bark’s like armour, tough and strong

It's seen storms, bugs, and maybe a kangaroo.

Each scar tells tales of squirrel races

or dark nights with owl faces.

Leaves rustle, branches dance,

The wind whispers secrets, birds sing free,

I’m a tree, I’m a tree, just let me be.

Spring paints me pink,

 Summer shades me green.

Autumn’s fiery hug, leaves twirl and fall,

Winter’s icy fingers strip me naked and embarrassed.

Leaves rustle, branches dance,

Wind whispers secrets, birds sing free,

I’m a tree, I’m a tree, just let me be.

So, next time you pass by, give a nod,

To the tree standing tall, and happy.

We’re more than wood and leaves, you see,

 We’re the keepers of stories,

 wild and free.
