My name is Grace Mukiza, the President of the senate body, Taibah International School 2024-2025. I must take this grand opportunity to firstly thank the almighty God for having enabled me to reach this point. I also thank the teachers who have guided and groomed me so that I was able to assume this role of leadership and the dear student body, for having elected this wonderful senate team. I must also show my gratitude to the outgoing senate body for the marvellous work done, we shall endeavour to follow in your footsteps.
To the new senate body, I congratulate you, upon your success. I believe in the hope, determination and power that each of you holds within. As students, this is a pivotal moment in our, we must understand that we will face great challenges through our leadership but I would like to allude to you a lesson I learned, from the Chinese culture. The Chinese people have no word such as ‘challenge’ in their vocabulary, I believe the closest word they have to this is opportunity. As we step into this leadership role, we must remember that behind each challenge lies an opportunity, to learn, to gain and to impact.
It would be best if you remembered that you can achieve greatness, and believe in yourself and your ability. As Ralph Waldo once said, what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. Every one of you has something special to offer to the world. However, we must remember that the path to success is not always a smooth one, you will encounter obstacles but it is during these that your resilience and character will shine through.
