During this experiment, I worked with Jayden, and it went well. I enjoyed myself as I explained to people what osmosis meant.
Firstly, osmosis is the extraction of high molecules and low molecules. We used two potatoes, one raw and one cooked. We carved holes in the potatoes, put them in a container, and added water to the container. We later put salt in both potatoes that are in the container. As time went on, the raw potato absorbed water faster than the cooked one. This was because the raw potato has living cells that help in the transfer of water from one cell to another. For osmosis to take place, there should always be a side that has a higher concentration. Note that’s the use of the salt, to make the upper side of the potato have more concentration than the part in the water. After the experiment, we ate the cooked potatoes with the salt on them and we enjoyed them.
